Real Family

One of the things I am most thankful for is family. I have a loving wife and a wonderful son, and I can't imagine what life would be like without them.

But I am also thankful for my church family. Through the good times and the other times, I know I have people to talk to, depend on, laught with, go to, eat with. People who genuinely care about us. People who are willing to help if there is a need. I look forward to each church service or activity, because it is a time that I get to spend with my family.

We have received so much from our church family over the years - clothes, furniture, toys, and food, not to mention encouragement and fellowship. Something as simple as a kind word from a family member has at times been a great blessing. And hopefully we have been able to give to others as well.

And in a family like ours, we have so many people to look up to, people who set outstanding Christian examples for us to follow. So many great role models for Jaylin to follow. Not to mention great examples for me to learn from.

One movie I enjoyed a few years back was The Country Bears. It may not have been considered high cinematic art, but I still enjoyed it. The movie mainly centered around a young bear who had been adopted by a human family. Being a movie, the bears could talk, by the way.

Anyway, the main bear feels the need to go look for his "real family". And his adoptive father tells him, "Your real family are the ones who love you no matter what."

I am thankful that I have such a wonderful Christian family in the church.

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. - Galatians 6:10
